The Hoya ND400 Filter reduces light entering the lens by 9 stops to less than 1/500th of its original intensity. This vast reduction in light is ideal for photographing incredibly bright subjects such as solar eclipses, industrial welding processes and other ultra-bright light sources, which could otherwise be extremely dangerous. It can also be used to achieve super slow shutter speeds in daylight to render moving subjects invisible, making for strange, ghost-town like pictures of busy city streets and dream-like landscapes.
